I get this on iOS all the time and I don’t know what it means or if I need to do anything about it.
Thank, but there are no solutions on there. I’ve done what they suggest many times before and it doesn’t work.
I had this too. When I opened the console log it was repairing a file from a database I had removed from the device many weeks before. The only way I could get it to go away was to uninstall DTTG on that IOS device, reinstall and add back the databases/sync locations I wanted.
I know uninstall is not the recommended way, but the database/document in the console log no longer existed so I could not add back to the device to repair/clean.
That sounds like a time consuming exercise to me. I have three iOS devices and they all get the same error. If I had to do all three, it would take ages.
So you searched for Console.log
and there are no items with that name in any database? Have you emptied the trash and repaired all databases?
The next version of DEVONthink To Go will block importing the Console.log
file by accident.
The problem kept coming back, even as I deleted Console.log from the database and cleaned the trashes!
Very strange …
Please feel free to send us support ticket from within the app. This gives us additional details in exactly that, the Console.log
file BTW: The next maintenance release of DEVONthink To Go ignores the attempt to open any of its own log files and so no longer imports them.
Then I will simply wait
Thanks!
I keep getting this error message, but not on all iPads.
I searched for “Console.log” in the database, but it does not seem to be contained.
Still the message appears…
Console.log is a support file, not something contained in your databases.
The reply What does "Found documents with empty file path" mean and what should I do about it? - #8 by eboehnisch seems to indicate that somehow this file can very well be part of the DB and that this is the core of the problem.
And the error itself seems to indicate the same/
But even if not, why does this error constantly pop up?
Going to add screenshots
That would be incorrect. He was commenting on a behavior when selecting the log in Files.app.
What OS and version of DEVONthink To Go are you running on the problematic device?
iPadOS 17.7, the latest before 18 and always the latest App version.
But I now checked my ancient iPhone 6s too, which is running iOS 15.8.3 - and it shows the same problem.
This error occurs since several years …
And did you open a support ticket, as recommended?
No, as I wrote I understood that this would be fixed soon and I just wanted to wait for that:
But until now, it was not fixed.
Several people have the same problem it seems, but if a ticket helps, I can open one!
Just yesterday I opened one about strange top-level groups that appear in DTTG, in different ways on different devices, but did not yet get a reply …
I send a mail from the “Contact Us” menu!
We fixed that DEVONthink To Go imports the Console.log
file when you double-tap it in Files etc. but we don’t scan the database for that file in case it is already imported. Did you search for a document named Console.log
or checked the trashes?
No, as I tried to explain, I removed that file from the database long ago.
But still this problem kept happening!
I opened a case for this, and in that context, I tapped on this file in the Files App again - which originally imported it into the database, but now it only gava a message that this file was skipped!
So the bug fix works…
AND: After doing that, the error message vanished!
So it seems that you need to trigger the fix by trying to importort the file into the database.
Of course it would be better, when the fix worked without this step - as it seems, when you added the file before the fix came out, the fix cannot stop the problem by itself but needs this manual step.
